T's keep there winning streak going and Trojans triumph in cliffhanger......A good weekend foir T's saw the 1st XV battle hard to come from behind against Romford and win their sixth game on the trot, doing the double over Romford at the same time..... The Richmond and Twickenham Times report follows: R0MFORD AND GIDEA PARK 27 TWICKENHAM 31 This was a humdinger of a match between two passionate teams of conflicting styles where there were nine tries and the result was in doubt until the final whistle. The young Romford side is possessed of an exciting back division, and had the ascendancy in open play, but Twickenham’s pack was awesome in the tight and dominated the rucks and mauls. T’s went ahead after 5 minutes with a well worked try from captain James Clark, playing in the unaccustomed centre position, involving a double-switch of direction. The conversion made it 7-0, but Romford were soon back on level terms with a good running try from their own half. A second try for the home side took them into the lead, only for T’s to get it back before half time with two tries from rolling mauls, one from Nathan Dawes and the other from Joe Foley. A 19-12 interval lead looked comfortable enough for T’s, but Romford came out with guns blazing. Their backs now put in their best effort and T’s were under all sorts of pressure. Romford scored a converted try, a penalty, and another try to lead by 27-19. With ten minutes to go T’s needed two scores. Then the deciding moment came. A Romford player was sent to the Sin bin for a high tackle. With numerical superiority, T’s pack gave their all and got a try from another rolling maul and a second touchdown from Nathan Dawes. At 27-24 in the closing minutes of the game T’s were awarded a penalty. To slot it over would level the scores, but T’s pack were now rampant. The kick for touch gave them the line-out 5 metres out. A good throw from Rob Drinkwater, a good catch from Peter Goff and the two centres joined the forwards in driving for the line. Prop Richard Moses touched down and Clark added the conversion for the final 31-27 score line. This great match was echoed at home when the second XV took a notable scalp with an equally close victory over local rivals Richmond TWICKENHAM scorers: Tries Dawes(2), Clark, Foley, Moses. Cons: Clark (3) TWICKENHAM: Seabrook, Law, Clark, Foley, Peters, Bryce, Rogers, Mooney

Elsewhere in the Club: The Trojans were equally brave in their defeat of Richmond Saxons in the Surrey merit table. The win allowed T's to secure a place in the senior super series at the expense of KCS OB, on points difference. The four teams from T's conference are Richmond (13), T's (12), Guildford II (11) and Barnes II (8). They will now play Camberley II, Wimbledon II Richmond Dev and Guildford Dev in a new league, taking the points (in Brackets above) through to that league. The winner of this super series takes the Surrey London division title. The 'Reds' were awarded the points against imperial Medicals who could not get a side out, and the 'Blacks' were unlucky to lose 12-19 to a Feltham Club XV.
Elsewhere in the League Most things went to form....as all the leading sides won. Bad news for Bank of England though as they have been docked 4 points and find themselves in the relegation zone.....will Diss make yet another miracle escape, or will it be Romford who rise from the ashes and earn themselves another season in London 2. Hertford continue to lead the way in London 1, with Albanians and Nigerians in danger of joining Harlow and Camberley in the relegation places.....Staines look to be out of trouble, but need to keep focused to avoid slipping back too. Civil Service and St Albans stay on track to join T's in London 2 next season, subject to playoff battles.
