CHESHUNT 8 TWICKENHAM 32
The first score for T’s was a brilliantly executed solo try for fly-half Greg Bryce, when he switched play from one side of the field to the other to outwit the defence. Captain James Clark converted. The next try came from a long way out. Winger Leon John made a break down the touch line and, tackled 15 metres out, he, somewhat surprisingly, found hooker Chris Tytherleigh in support to take the ball and go over right in the corner. There was then an exchange of penalties to make it 15-3 to T’s at the interval. The second half was less than 5 minutes old when a marvellous running try, involving the back division, was scored by winger Tom Howden, which Clark converted. Cheshunt now had their best period and were rewarded with a try, before T’s settled matters with a penalty and then a second converted try from man-of the match Chris Tytherleigh. At the halfway point in the season T’s are mid-table. They have disappointingly lost several matches where they had the lead, and better concentration and fitness from now on could take them up the table. Next week they have the return match at home to Cheshunt, but with several key players unavailable because of Christmas commitments, it may not prove such an easy ride.
